The laboratory will aim to :

  • Weave a set of correspondences with the local history, such as the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie, the Tulpenmanie, the Dutch Sandwich, the Commanditaire Vennootschap “CV” structures (1), the OFC conduits, and so on, and engage the global and complex issue of offshoring from the situated perspective of the city Amsterdam, the Randstad region, or the country and legislation of the Netherlands;
  • Defuse the vocabulary of the offshore Newspeak, and, quoting Alain Deneault, confront the process of “laundering with language” (2);
  • Map, and give forms to the offshore banking invisible network, through various means of cartography and representation (data, heuristic, psychogeographic);
  • Experiment with the Offshore Tour Operator application (3), a situated audio-guide with geolocalized comments and/or narratives;
  • Search for ways to create active interference, means of action, that can reconnect with the local and the micro-politics.

FIBER invites its network to use this laboratory as an opportunity to research, exchange knowledge, particpate in one of the Offshore Tours and meet other artists, designers and researchers active in these fields of interest.

FIBER is supported by the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst
