FIBER Weekends 2018

Two weekends of audiovisual art, electronic music and digital culture

FIBER Weekends 2018 is a new, decentralized art event about emerging developments in audiovisual art, electronic music, performances, creative coding and advanced technologies. The programme is divided over three days and presents immersive performances, a conference, a club night and works from upcoming and established artists.

FIBER Weekends is an offspring of the (now) biennial FIBER Festival. Focused on the theme ‘Sensing Beyond | Beyond Sensing’, it explores complex technological systems and ungraspable natural phenomena through sensory experiences, and questions our understanding of them in today’s and tomorrow’s society. From the hyperreality of advanced computer graphics, our radically changing experience of time and space by algorithms and AI, to the existential question: what does ‘life’ mean on other planets? Through the lense of the arts FIBER explores new and weird ways of understanding the world.

On Friday 23/11, FIBER presents the latest album and audiovisual live show Unieqav by Alva Noto in collaboration with The Rest Is Noise at the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t Ij. The pre- and after programme include Valery Vermeulen (lecture-performance Music/Math and Imagination) and rising-star object blue (live). On Saturday, December 1, the conference will take place at Lab111 with Alan Warburton, performance-designer The Rodina and more. Followed by a club & performance night at OT301.
