Aural Spaces will return to Het Concertgebouw from December 12 to 15
After a successful first edition in 2022, the spatial sound festival Aural Spaces returns to the Concertgebouw for its second edition. Aural Spaces offers visitors a rare and unique 4D audio-visual experience, blending music and sound with the cutting-edge technology of 4DSOUND. During this edition, electronic producer Loraine James, multimedia artist James Allister Sprang, percussionist Dominique Vleeshouwers, string ensemble Alma Quartet and Danish cellist CTM will perform unique works that further explore the possibilities of 4DS technology.
Thurs 12/12: Workshop Makers: Space as a Collective Sonic Instrument, hosted by FIBER
Are you a professional cultural maker with a practice in sound, movement or audiovisual arts with an interest in spatial sound? The Workshop Makers: Space as a Collective Sonic Instrument addresses the topic of listening and sonic composition through the lens of spatial sound. Together with the workshop hosts Robin Koek & Mint Park, participants will gather sounds as a group and create spatial experiments using a 4DSOUND system. This workshop consists of a two-day core-programme, one short introductory session online, and one final presentation event during Aural Spaces. To participate, you can apply through this form. The deadline for application is October 21 at midnight
Thurs 12/12: Interactive Session: Bring Your Own Sounds
This year’s program includes not only concerts but also listening sessions, masterclasses, and workshops, featuring the Interactive session: Bring Your Own Sounds, where participants will capture sounds from their surroundings, transforming them into a 4D listening experience. Some other programme components – in particular the listening sessions ‘Low Stimuli’ and ‘Seeing With Your Ears’ – are tailored to people with auditory, visual or physical disabilities. All components form a special meeting of art and human interactions.
Aural Spaces is a collaboration between concertvrienden, jouwentree, fiberfestival, and 4dsound.
