FIBER x The Rest Is Noise kicks off the new year with immersive audiovisual performances. This year acts from Berlin and Rotterdam combine light scenography, the use of indigenous instruments, sculptures, and costume design within theatrical presentations. The performances will focus on the cross-pollination between electronic music, club culture, media art and film. Themes of queerness, colonialism, hope and self-expression will be explored, while the influence and power of rave and techno culture is a common thread.
Rotterdam-based duo Animistic Beliefs and artist Jeisson Drenth present the world premiere of Thức Tỉnh (Awaken). The show will be the first time they will infuse their electronic productions with acoustic instrumentation. Using electronic and traditional acoustic instruments as well as shadow puppetry, the trio reflects on colonial violence. Berlin-based artist CEM (Cem Duran) collaborates for his live performance with light and media artist Theresa Baumgartner. During his performance, CEM will use elements that refer to his family’s Sufi background. Expect a sonic dialogue between machine sounds and real instruments. The evening will be musically tied together with Slimfit (DJ).
