FIBER presents Coded Matter(s); a series of events with presentations, workshops and performances that explore the possibilities and pitfalls of emerging digital culture. Our programme presents how artists create connections within their work between human expression, code and algorithms, data, and their physical surroundings for the creation of visual art, sound and multi-sensory environments. Coded Matter(s) functions as a platform for bringing together frontrunners within many creative disciplines. Furthermore, we aim to open up these developments and make them accessible to a broad audience, providing opportunities to experience the many possibilities and tools.
Coded Matter(s) Series 1
Explorations in hybrid art, design and music
Coded Matter(s)
Introduction
The first series which ran from September 2013 until January 2014 and included four events: Unfolding Space at De Brakke Grond dealt with hybrid and mediated spatial experiences. Sound Hackers focused on how digital processes enabled the production and performance of DIY instruments and merged sonic realms. At The Hague and Eindhoven the series continued to, respectively, Open Tools Lab at TodaysArt Festival and Transmaterials, as part of The Sculpture Factory, at MU art space. The former realized a meeting place for code-artists and the audience, while the latter dealt with the impact of digital fabrication techniques on the arts.
