OFFF Festival Mexico and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Mexico-City have invited FIBER, the organisation behind Amsterdam based FIBER Festival, to present itself to an international creative audience. OFFF Mexico 2013 will take place from August 15th to 18th and will bring together makers from around the globe to meet in Mexico City. FIBER will give insight into the activities of the organization, the up-and-coming Dutch artists they have been working with and investigate possible collaborations between Mexican and Dutch artists. Director Jarl Schulp will be present on behalf of FIBER and will introduce Dutch sound artist, musician and producer Tijs Ham. Tijs is a member of the international sound collective Soundlings and will share his knowledge on “Visual Reactive Audio” during a 4 hour workshop.

The Dutch – Mexican collaboration began in 2012, when the Mexican digital artist and designer Josué Ibañèz and his colleague Luca Basille (Hotpixel) participated in the second edition of FIBER Festival at TrouwAmsterdam (Amsterdam). They exhibited their installation “Painting With Tweets”, contributed a workshop in openFrameworks and spoke about their views on art and design. Josué Ibañèz, founder of the influential Vimeo-channel EXPM and co-organizer of OFFF Mexico also co-curated the festival’s Video Gallery. One year later, this international collaboration continues in Mexico with the support of the Dutch embassy.

Additional information

The OFFF festival was born a decade ago in Barcelona as a meeting place for the international post-digital creation culture. This traveling festival is continuously transforming and includes an in depth programme of conferences, workshops and performances by the most relevant artists around. This year the festival returns to Mexico for the second time with the goal of meeting new people.

FIBER is a Dutch interdisciplinary organisation, that presents new developments in audiovisual art, digital culture and the experimental and deeper corners of electronic music. The team works year round with a vibrant network of artists, designers, researchers and developers, who aspire to introduce mind bending experiences to a broad audience. Special attention goes out to the support of up and coming talents across numerous creative disciplines.

Tijs Ham (aka Tapage) is a musician and sound artist with a background in visual arts, a member of the Soundlings collective and founder of the record label Tapeface. Musically, anything is possible, which is reflected by the broad sonic range of his output. The Soundlings Collective is a young and international network of starting audio professionals. They have worked on a variety of projects, initiated events, shared knowledge and promoted the sonic perspective in the cultural landscape.
